The most annoying thing about this whole debate, and why so many people on console are sounding frustrated and emotional is console COD players know the reality of playing the game on console, against other console players, we've been doing it for 15+ years, and it's been just fine and fun (with tiny, tiny exceptions like briefly hacked 360 consoles were able to get online) No one has been screaming about cheating and hackers. If we could wave a magic wand and suddenly crossplay was off by default (or at least it was limited console only), we would see what we have traditionally seen every time console players playing the game just fine, and then the true reality of the pc player base without console players diluting it - it would quickly descend into a cheating chaos, as is tradition. This is, frankly, the pc platform and its inherent problems being subsidised by the console player base. right up until MW2019/Warzone, which both default to having crossplay. The console versions, even the Xbox versions, have not.
So this isn't the "lol" uno reverse example you think it is.Įvery call of duty multiplayer pre-2019 on PC has died on it's ass / descended into cheating chaos. So if you actively turn it off you are left with playing against a tiny pool of people on PlayStation who also researched/knew enough to turn crossplay off.
Your fall guys example is unsound, because most people just stick with the defaults (crossplay on), and probably don't even know the option to turn it off exists.
